Hasti Alhouei is an Iranian-American artist whose abstract paintings explore themes of identity, feminine power, and consciousness. Born and raised in Tehran, her early years were shaped by resistance to societal constraints that sought to suppress artistic expression, a formative experience that continues to inform her practice.

Now based in the Sierra Foothills of California, Alhouei creates intricate compositions using custom-designed drawing instruments she builds herself, evolving a childhood drawing tool into a sophisticated visual language of layered, flowing forms.

Drawing from over two decades of contemplative practice, her process allows forms to emerge through sustained attention. Each painting becomes an invitation to contemplation, a mirror reflecting hidden dimensions of inner life.

In 2025, Alhouei's first U.S. solo exhibition, Resilience — twenty-five paintings on endurance, transformation, and grace — opened at Hugomento in San Francisco and was extended three weeks beyond its planned run, with five commissions and ten additional works placed with collectors.
